About

I'm Lance Conry, and I create great solutions with awesome clients.

First and foremost, I’m a guy who loves family and adventure.  Professionally I am systems architect, specialising in mobile and remote geospatial systems and data capture,  who is just as comfortable planning with CEO’s in an office as getting dirty in the field with crews.

I divide my time between developing systems and assisting in deployments and strategy.  Wherever possible, I like to get on-site, to experience the environment my clients operate in, be it a tent in the bush, or a chopper in the sky.  Not only does it provide me with a great perspective, but to be honest, it’s also lots of fun.

I cut my teeth developing large financial systems in the UK and Australia, where I realised just how boring the financial industry, and their systems can be.  Thankfully I discovered GIS (geographic information systems) while managing projects in a civil engineering environment in 2002.  Building software and systems which deal with the physical world is a whole lot more satisfying to me.  The financial drudgery did however pay off,  as my extensive experience with relational and multidimensional databases, together with desktop, server and mobile based software development, have provided a wide ranging foundation, resulting in my ability to provide leading edge solutions across a wide range of hardware and software platforms.

With a bachelor of business (with majors in IT and marketing), I find myself in a rare position of being able to design technical solutions while maintaining an appreciation of the business imperatives behind the projects I work on.

Outside of work, my passions include fabrication, ocean sailing and electric guitar.  I also sit on the board of directors of Christian Schools Tasmania.

I live with my wife and three children in paradise (otherwise known as Tasmania).
